The TFLX Script Creator software

The TFLX System employs a powerful, multi-level scripting language which uses an iconic, or Picture Programming©, metaphor to enable you to build sophisticated single line telephony applications very quickly and very easily. The TFLX Creator is a robust, well tested and full-featured Script editor which includes...

The programming tools: Task Icons

Telephony tasks are represented by unique icons. Each Task Icon opens to reveal a selection of programming commands and controls which can be customized for your own unique application. By simply dragging icons from the Task Icon palette to the Script page, connecting all together into a logical flowchart form and then customizing/activating the Task Icons, it can take mere minutes to create a working telephony application. Instead of weeks or months of development time, it can now take only a few days to a few weeks to create a complex and sophisticated script.

For information about a specific TFLX task or ability, simply click on the Task Icon palette...

The system messages: Natural Sound recordings

Recording the "prompts" - the messages that callers will hear - is as easy as picking up a microphone and speaking. The TFLX Creator contains the Natural Sound Editor with its own sound recording and editing features. Or, you can use any other Macintosh application which lets you record Apple resource format sound files (snd) and import these into the Script.

The runtime Script

TFLX is a two-part system: the Creator builds the application while the TFLX Runner implements the application. Because of the dual nature of TFLX, you can develop proprietary Scripts/applications for yourself or clients and then provide a stand-alone system for the final installation. Because you needn't supply the original source files to the client, your development investment is fully protected.

Minimum System requirements

The TFLX Basic system (call-in only applications; Call out ability requires the addition of Module 1 or better) A Macintosh Plus or Classic with 2.5 Mbs RAM and System 6.4 or above, a hard drive capacity equivalent to 22 Mbs per hour of sound/storage, a standard RJ-11 phone line connection are all you need to run a fully automated TFLX line.

Since TFLX works with networks and is System 7 compatible, you needn't dedicate a Macintosh to TFLX. However, since the Mac is not a TRUE multi-processor (yet!) and sound processing is intensive, we do recommend that you only use the TFLX-Mac for light duty... such as occasional word processing.

And, since TFLX can be networked together, you can have TFLX lines share data from a single server!

The TFLX System software

The Basic System - enables you to create a call-in only application of virtually unlimited number of voice Mailboxes, branching levels and outbound messages.

Module 1 (Basic system required) - Adds the ability to dial out using a specific number. This ability lets TFLX dial out to pagers, extensions and other specific phone numbers.

Module 2 (Requires Basic + Mod 1) - Expands the DIAL OUT ability to include variables. Adds variable and database ability which includes 5 USER variables and a single database (virtually unlimited number of data records). Adds IF/THEN conditional comparisons,

Module 3 (Requires Basic + Mod 1 + Mod 2) - Expands TFLX System to full professional level capability. Unlimited variable and database ability; Adds arrays, GLOBAL CLOCK for timed events; LOCK/UNLOCK for Script security; Enables you to create telephony applications of virtually unlimited ability and scope.

FAX ON DEMAND Module (available for all systems* - Requires compatible fax software and modem) Adds the ability to recognize a fax call; send and receive faxes; plus adds SWITCHER Task Icon to switch call from voice line to fax line.

*At the Basic - Module 1 level, FAX ON DEMAND is handled on a same-call basis. Faxes may only be sent while the caller is calling from a fax line. With Modules 2 and 3, TFLX can collect the caller's fax number, collect caller's choice of faxes and place a fax-back call. Module 3 enables the use of arrays which enable callers to select multiple fax documents during the same call.

The TFLX hardware

The TFLX II hardware unit is a true Macintosh-compatible EXTERNAL voice board designed to connect directly to the Macintosh via either the Printer or Modem port. The TFLX II unit is a true analog-to-digital recording device and a TOUCH TONE detection device. It is NOT a modem nor is it a fax modem. The unit's compact size (approx. 5-in by 6-in by 2-in) and small footprint make it convenient and unobtrusive.

Unlike other voice/fax hardware available for the Macintosh, the TFLX II records at a full 11K and 22K per second of sound. Even more important, it uses a NO LOSS compression routine... so the quality and fidelity of the sound file remains as good as the original. TFLX can compress sounds fully IN HALF without any loss of quality! Every TFLX system comes with all of the essential hardware and cables needed to install TFLX on your Macintosh. This includes the TFLX II voice unit, a serial cable, an audio cable and a standard RJ-11 telephone cord. An optional high-quality microphone is also available from Magnum for an nominal, at-cost charge.

TFLX and fax/modems

For those of you who want modem or fax on demand capability, a Mac-compatible modem or fax modem is required. TFLX is compatible with any modem using either FAXstf(tm) software version 2.x or QuickLinkII(tm) or MacComCenter(tm) software products. There are many modems available which come bundled with one of these compatible software programs.

TFLX and pagers

The TFLX system with Module 1 can always call you or your pager whenever messages are waiting. With Modules 2 and 3, TFLX can also send the caller's phone number. For text pages, the TFLX system with Modules 2 and 3 can work with Ex Machina's Notify! pager software to send text messages to alpha-numeric pagers.
